A Beautiful Sousa Beach
Sousa Dominican Republic: We arrived at the Puerto Plata on Saturday and were met by a taxi driver that was recommended by a friend of ours who visited the DR a few months ago.  Orlando was wonderful – he helped us find where to shop for groceries, the best beaches, places to go out in Cabarete and Sosua, restaurants and everything!  We speak broken Spanish so that was a great help.

Scenic vistas await at Avaleen Springs
My wife and I went to Avaleen Springs B&B in Linden, TN for our one year anniversary.  We were just wanting to get away from the fast paced city life and that's what we got.  We traveled on the Nachez Trace Parkway from Nashville and it was a beautiful drive with no traffic.  We arrived to Avaleen Springs and were immediately welcomed by the owner who showed us to our room which was the Poplar Suite with a bottle of champagne waiting.

The RIU Grand Palace
Situated on the southernmost tip of North America lies a small piece of paradise.  With a expansive turquoise ocean on all sides the desert backdrop takes on a character of its own.  The majestic rock formations, the desert plants and magnificent sunrises and sunsets make even the hard core city dweller look in awe.  So where is this oasis in the desert? Cabo San Lucas, Mexico a magnificent strip of land that was once just a small desert fishing town on the Sea.  Now it is home of some of the world's finest resorts, golf courses, surf spots and finest Marlin Fishing in the world.  From the moment you land in San Jose Del Cabo, you can not help but feel the tranquility of being in another world, away from skyscapers, strip malls and piles of paperwork. The climate is warm but there is no humidity, and just to think that you are surrounded by water.  The nights are cool with a fresh trade wind blowing in from the water.

Wine Country Part Three PDF Print E-mail

ImageAs with most vacation destinations, you can choose your pick of places to stay, from grand resorts (Fairfield has one in Sonoma), to quaint Bed and Breakfasts, to rental cottages just off the square in downtown Sonoma, to sketchy inns. What was nice though, with the exception of the Fairfield resort, was a very noticeable void of corporate hotel chains. Everything felt very local, if not owned, at least in atmosphere.

The byline “Stylish, Convenient and Affordable Accommodations for the Savvy Budget Traveler” tries to hard, in my opinion. It almost sounds cliché, and cliché doesn’t build trust. But if ever that cliché applied, it applies to the Sonoma Creek Inn.
