London's go-anywhere Oyster travel card is to be made available to overseas tourists before they leave home in a bid to boost inbound UK tourism, it was announced today.

Ahhhhh...romance!
The Bahamas' Ministry of Tourism has what is believed to be a first not only for that area but perhaps anywhere in North America: a director of romance.

Newly appointed Freda Madrisotti will provide a link between hotels, resorts, facilities, vendors and suppliers to help provide any type of romantic occasion.

"Each of our islands presents an array of romantic alternatives and in this new position Madrisotti will provide a seamless connection among our partners," said Vernice Walkine, director-general, Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

Among other duties, she will promote romance-specific hotel packages in the Bahamas and "serve as the gatekeeper to all things romantic," according to the tourism office.
